OpenBSD Everything

Recently migrated our servers open to OpenBSD Amsterdam, for a number of reasons:

  1. OSs seem to keep breaking. Even OS X. I like my platforms opinionated and judicious with their design choices.
  2. Not being part of the problem. Hosting is an expense, and I'd like that currency to go to something worthwhile. OpenBSD is a worthwhile foundation.
  3. One platform, my homelab and public server running the same OS is going to make things easier in the long run.
  4. Good feels. Some projects reek of neckbeard and sweat, OpenBSD seems to smell like fresh dank and wizard types with too many guitars.
  5. Pufferfish man. I fucking love pufferfish.

Big thanks to Mischa at OpenBSD.Amsterdam for fixing me up during lockdown. I like their site too, strong no bullshit vibes.

€60 a year comes down to around £4.50 a month in March 2020 (this could be like a 400 turnips next year judging by sterlings trajectory) which is near what I was paying with DigitalOcean.
