Whilst I'm ranting on the evil of cars - I watched Motherless Brooklyn on NowTV recently and the sub plot is about how urban planning was used to disenfranchise black people in the 50s.
EDIT: Apparently the original book was set in contemporary times with a Neo-noir thing going on. Might be worth a pop.
